January 24, 2019
On January 1st, 2019, I made the switch to specialize in weddings and boudoir. Since then, I have gotten a lot of questions regarding as to why I made the switch! Hopefully, this blog post clears things up! Enjoy!
One of my personal goals was to figure out exactly what I like in photography. I tried literally almost everything. And when I mean everything? I mean A LOT! Birth, maternity, lifestyle newborn, styled newborn, family, boudoir, weddings, elopements, headshots, commercial, and the list goes on and on. Up until the end of 2018, I had my heart completely set on just being a portrait and wedding photographer going into 2019.
But then something changed…
I wasn’t obsessing over portraits like I used to. I still loved them, but there was some sort of disconnect. So the last week of December, I thought long and hard what exactly am I passionate about, which made me come to the realization it was weddings and boudoir!
So, why boudoir?
Boudoir is so much more than taking sexy pictures in lingerie.
It is the confidence that you feel during and after the session. When a client looks at their photos and says “Oh my gosh, that’s me?!” There is no other word to describe it than transformational and empowering. Empowering in the sense that you feel confident in your self and your self-worth. Knowing that you ARE enough, just the way that you are in this very moment.
Does that mean you’ll never do anything but boudoir and weddings for now on?
Why did you decide to specialize in weddings?
So funny story about weddings. At the end of 2017, I attended my brother in laws wedding and thought to myself, this is EXACTLY what I’m supposed to be doing. Last year I was able to shoot 7 weddings, and I still can’t get enough! Going into 2019, I am so thrilled to be shooting 6 weddings!! (And hopefully more too!)
All and all…
Specializing in weddings and boudoir wasn’t an easy decision. However, it was a decision that felt right in my heart. Over the last few weeks, I’ve had so many people reach out and congratulate me on deciding to specialize! I am so thankful and blessed to have a community who is continually supporting me, my small business, and my dream!! I love you all!!
